Careers

No roles are currently advertised. You can still get to know how we work.

This page explains the kind of work we do and what we value, without pretending there is a vacancy when there is not.

A short speculative introduction is welcome. It is not an application to an open role, so there is no need to prepare a cover letter or full application.

Why we publish our current hiring status.

A clear hiring status respects the time it takes to prepare an application and lets you decide whether a speculative note is worthwhile.

The same evidence standard applies here as everywhere else on the site. We describe the work and the invitation precisely, without adding a response deadline or hiring forecast we cannot support.

What the work is actually like.

Read this before deciding whether to write to us. It should help you judge whether the way we work suits you.

01

You will build early, before every project is certain

We build a working version around a client's situation before any contract exists. Some become engagements and some remain useful prototypes. In both cases, the work tests a real idea and helps someone make a clearer decision.

02

AI does the typing; you do the deciding

We are unembarrassed about how much of the first draft is machine-generated. That moves the job upward, not outward: the scarce skill here is judgement about what is true, what will break, and what the client actually meant. If you enjoy the typing more than the deciding, you will be bored.

03

You will make ideas visible early

Building early lets the client correct a screen in an afternoon rather than an assumption in month four. Doing well here means being comfortable showing thoughtful work while it can still improve.

04

Two countries, one team

We operate from the UK and India and we do not run an offshore back office. The engineering is not junior work handed down a chain — it is the same team on the same standards, which means real overlap hours and writing things down properly rather than explaining them twice.

05

Small company, visible consequences

There is no layer between what you build and whether a client renews. That is the appeal for some people and the reason others should not come. We would rather you knew which one you are before you write.

What we look for, when we are looking.

We are technology-agnostic on purpose. Someone strong in one ecosystem can learn the next one faster than someone who has simply memorised our current stack.

Clear writing

Clear sentences produce clearer projects. If you can describe a situation in plain language, you can usually build the right thing. We weigh this as heavily as code.

Weighted heavily
Commercial candour

We recommend the simplest sufficient option, which requires people who can share an inconvenient finding clearly and constructively.

Non-negotiable
Something you finished

A repository, a product, a tool nobody asked you for, a system that ran in production for two years. Scale is not the point; completion is. We would rather see one small finished thing than five promising starts.

Bring one

Four principles for any future hiring process.

The same logic as the operating rules on the About page: a hiring process should respect the candidate's time and correspond to a real need.

01

No unpaid client work

We do not use unpaid candidate exercises to complete work a client needs. Any live-work arrangement must be agreed and paid separately from the hiring decision.

02

Assessment scope is stated in advance

If a role uses an exercise, we state its purpose, expected time and evaluation criteria before you decide whether to continue.

03

Advertised applications receive a decision

When we advertise a role, everyone who completes the stated application process receives a clear decision.

04

Every advertised role has a defined need

We advertise only when the work, employment route and budget behind the role have been defined.

Writing to us anyway.

We are a small team and do not hire in cohorts. A note may not lead to a current conversation, but it can help us recognise a relevant person when a role does arise.

Send

  • A profile, portfolio or repository link, if you have one.
  • One paragraph on something you built and what you would do differently now.
  • Where you are and the kind of work you are looking for.

What helps us assess your note

  • A short note that adds something beyond the CV.
  • Your own account of the choices you made and what you learned.
  • Salary expectations once there is a specific role to discuss.

What happens next

  • A person reads it as delivery capacity allows.
  • If there is something relevant to discuss now, we suggest one conversation.
  • If there is no current fit, the note does not become an application to a role that does not exist.

A paragraph and a link are enough. Please do not send sensitive personal information at this stage.
